Family Behavioral Center
Eating Disorders Freestanding Outpatient Facility

The Program
"In Its Own Words"

STATISTICS

Self Description:

"This is a full day and intensive evening outpatient program that utilizes local, professionally operated sober/community living houses for those requiring a residential component."

Treatment Philosophy:

"Dedicated to providing the best opportunity for long term recovery by addressing eating disorders, psychiatric disorders and substance abuse in a dignified supportive, empowering therapeutic environment that simultaneously transitions patients into a healthy, reality-based lifestyle."

Family Program:

"One evening per week is dedicated to family treatment. For family members who are unable to attend, FSC conducts family teleconferencing sessions on a regular basis."

Position On 12 Step Involvement:

"12 Step involvement is essential, out of area patients are referred for residence to 12 Step oriented, professionally operated sober/community housing, becoming quickly involved in Delray Beach's large and active recovering community. FBC hosts an open Eating Disorders Anonymous meeting every Wednesday evening."

Position On Approach to Compulsive Overeating vs. Anorexia/Bulimia:

"Treatment and meal planning are individualized and monitored per psychiatric, psychosocial and nutritional assessments, group therapy and weekly individual sessions with a psychiatrist, primary therapist, registered dietician and certified exercise physiologist. Regardless of diagnosis, the objective is to normalize healthy eating behavior rather than prescribing food restrictions."

Additional Characteristics:

"Residential patients live in independently operated sober housing, which promotes more complete assimilation into the 12 Step recovery community and a quicker transition back into "real life." Transition back into a normal, healthy environment is an essential objective of the FBC program."

GENERAL:

Population Served: FBC provides treatment for males and females, age 16 or over; but, those under 18 must be able to reside with a parent, family member or reliable guardian while in treatment.
