Shades of Hope
Eating Disorders Long Term Residential Program

The Program
"In Its Own Words"

Self Description:

"A home-like, nurturing environment where a staff of dedicated professionals (medical to therapeutic) are here to help those seeking recovery come and reclaim their life."

Treatment Philosophy:

"To lead the client in self-examination to discover and confront those core issues driving the disease; then to teach the client how to empower oneself to deal with life without the need of an eating disorder or other "outside medications."

Family Program:

"The week long Family Week is a week of education, a process of insight, understanding, communication, confrontation culminating with a new beginning within the dynamics of family."

Position On 12 Step Involvement:

"Shades of Hope is committed to the 12 Step philosophy of recovery."

Position On Approach to Compulsive Overeating vs. Anorexia/Bulimia:

"Both involve a "food" addiction; a way of using food to medicate one's feelings. Recognizing the "core" issues and then learning constructive means to deal with life on life's terms versus destrucive means; overeating, binge/purge, etc."

Additional Characteristics:

"We concurrently treat other addictions (alcohol, CD, prescription medicatins, etc.) along with disordered eating."
