Self Description:

“Crossroads Back Cove is a halfway house program for recovering chemically dependent women.”

Treatment Philosophy:

“Crossroads Back Cove’s treatment philosophy is that substance abuse treatment for women must build upon and respect women’s unique needs to focus on self-determination, choices, positive relationships, and connectedness.”

Approach To Dual Diagnosis:

“We support clients with dual diagnosis by referral to psychiatry and mental health providers in the community; case management, education, counseling and medication management on-site.”

Family Program:

“We provide family meetings with client; monthly family education and support, referral to outpatient family education series and Alanon.”

Position On 12 Step Involvement:

“We require minimum of 3 support meetings per week, ususally 12 Steps in community. 12 Steps are a valuable, natural resource and part of the treatment program, however, not the only approach.”

Position on Confrontation:

“We provide guidance and direct feedback regarding self-defeating thoughts and hebaviors. We do this with compassion and kindness, using motivational enhancement techniques, always maintaining dignity and respect for women.”

Additional Characteristics:

“Crossroads Back Cove also offers the Children & Mothers Program (CAMP), the only program in Maine that provides on-site living arrangements and daycare to minor children of mothers in recovery from chemical dependency.”
