Self Description:

“Gateway treats a variety of population groups at its inpatient facility, including women, adjudicated youth, adult referrals from the PA Dept. of Corrections and patients for short term stabilization.”

Treatment Philosophy:

“Chemical dependency is a primary, progressive but treatable disease, that responds to interventions that are physical, intellectual, emotional, social, vocational and spiritual.”

Approach to Dual Diagnosis:

“We recognize that other emotional and behavioral disorders often co-exist with addictions. We have set up a special treatment track to deal with this fact.”

Family Program:

“Family members are given support to look at how addiction has affected them and what they need to do to get into recovery for themselves.”

Position on 12 Step Involvement:

“Gateway believes that involvement in 12 Step programs is very important for recovery. We host 12 Step meetings at almost all of our locations.”

Position on Confrontation:

“Confrontation involves looking at reality and telling the truth. It is essential in addictions treatment. Confrontation is direct but should not be harsh.”

Additional Characteristics:

“Women’s treatment track; 2 Halfway House for men (extended care); community correction’s treatment program; specialized treatment program for adjudicated and non-adjudicated adolescents.”
