“Awakenings’ mission is to provide quality and affordable treatment for chemcially dependent women and their family unit to foster and promote independent living.”

Treatment Philosophy:

“Through a holistaic recovery based program women are taught to develop health of mind, body, and spirit. Life issues are addressed through a variety of treatment modalities, formal and informal support systems, aftercare outreach, and community collaborations.”

Approach to Dual Diagnosis:

“Awakenings accepts women who experience coexisting diagnosis. However, the individual must be medically stable and not demonstrate symptoms which require 24 hour skilled care.”

Family Program:

“Children who are 12 years old and younger may be serviced as residents, when appropriate. In addition, significant others, older children, and other family members will receive services through family counseling, family education, and referrals.”

Position on 12 Step Involvement:

“Due to the importance of developing a support system for abstinence and healthy lifestyle changes, 12 Step recovery programs are considered an important aspect of Awakenings.”

“Confrontation is utilized in a supportive and nurturing way in order that the customer is given an opportunity to challenge and address her behaviors and attitudes through the perception of her peers.”

Additional Characteristics:

“The program is 3 to 12 months in duration. The initial 3 months involve an intensive treatment process. The following months provide the woman with an opportunity to develop skills in other life areas through formal education and/or vocational involvement, employment, or voluntarism.”
