Position on 12 Step Involvement:
“We feel that 12 step involvement is the most effective way of addressing the issue of isolation, self esteem, and socialization without chemicals. The program affords the addicted individual a place where he/she receives unconditional acceptance. For most chemical users this is a new phenomenon and an ego strengthening experience.”
Position on Confrontation:
“We do not have an official stance on confrontation. Should a client present with addictive behaviors, or acting out in such a way that the clinician suspects relapse, a reality based approach will often be utilized. If, however, this approach is contraindicated due to emotional issues, various approaches may be utilized depending on the clients cognitive abilities, ego strength and diagnosis.”
