Self Description:
“State of the art assessment and treatment of biopsycho-social variables related to alchohol/chemical dependents and their families.”
Treatment Philosophy:
“Teach patients and families about the disease of alcoholism/chemical dependency and the importance of connecting with other recovering people in preparation for the next level of care.”
Approach to Dual Diagnosis:
“Some patients have a separate psychiatric condition. This requires both distinctive as well as integrated treatment/education, ie: coping skills, understanding of the condition, psychopharmocological issues, 12-Step integration variables.”
Family Program:
“We offer a full day family educational prgram (8:30-4:00 every other Monday). This includes lecture/group discussion. Topics are family illness of alcohol/chemical dependency symptoms, Alanon, healthy and unhealthy family systems.”
Position on 12 Step Involvement:
“An essential component of recovery for the majority. In combination with continuing care, it is highly effective.”
Position on Confrontation:
“Confrontation with compassion and respect is highly therapeutic for some. We call this ‘responsible concern.'”
Additional Characteristics:
- “Use of patient Community in addressing the conflict between a recovery culture and an active culture.
- Low elements ropes course.
- Creative experiential group therapy.
- Innovative continuing care education/planning”
