Self Description:
“New Beginnings offers a unique treatment environment. Our grounds are distinguished by the beautiful and serene setting; we are far removed from the pressures of urban living, nestled on several acres of private wooded lakeshore property. We are located in Waverly, Minnesota, in the converted summer home of Vice President Hubert Humphrey.”
Treatment Philosophy:
“New Beginnings programs have been founded on the belief that people who are suffering from this disease deserve treatment that is specifically designed for them. These components are integrated in such a way as to promote healing in all areas of the patient’s life.”
Approach to Dual Diagnosis:
“Dual diagnosis clients are accepted if mental health issues are being addressed independently and do not interfere with chemical dependency treatment goals. We do have staff psychologists to meet with patients on an as needed basis.”
Family Program:
“We believe that chemical dependency is a family disease. We treat the family as well as the individual. Family members are encouraged to participate in Family Week. They have their own counselors and family groups promote the healing process.”
Position on 12 Step Involvement:
“Essential to a quality recovery.”
Position on Confrontation:
“Confrontation is used cautiously, when indicated by denial or situation; we do not practice any “hot seat” hard confrontations in-group.”
Additional Characteristics:
“New Beginnings is nationally recognized for its treatment of alcohol, cocaine, methamphetamine and other drug dependencies. We provide treatment programs for adults and adolescents.”
